Id actually compare them to each other, yes.

Blitzburgh, they lost Givens, Patten left last year for the Redskins. I dont think Givens is all that special compared to Deion Branch but I do think the pats are crumbling. They need big time help at corner, wide receiver, and lord only knows if Harrison will ever be the same.

    Re: NFL News

Plently of QB's with less than strong arms are currently in the NFL Hall of Fame. Joe Montana heard that throughout his career. Fran Tarkenton never had a cannon. Len Dawson didn't exactly launch rockets. Future HOF'er Tom Brady was the prototypical "noodle arm" coming out of college and it caused him to drop significantly in the draft. Former Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner had the same problem coming out of Northern Iowa. There is alot more to playing QB than arm strength...just ask Jeff George, Billy Joe "overthrow" Tolliver, Dan McGwire, Kelly Stouffer, Heath Shuler, Akili Smith, David Klingler and many others who were praised for their arm strength coming out of college.

I realize that James. The same thing could be said about Favre and Elway contrasting to Ken Dorsey and Danny Weurffel. Having a good arm helps tremendously. No team really wants a weak armed quarterback if they can help it. Im still not impressed all that much with Schaub as a quarterback. He may be the sexy pick because hes a good backup but I wouldnt consider him to be any more talented than Billy Volek or Brian Griese.

    Re: NFL News

Having a good arm does help...being accurate with passes, seeing the field well and making good decisions where to throw are all more important factors however. Thats why Schaub is being sought after. He does all of those things well. You don't go out looking for a guy with weak arm but you also don't go out looking for a guy with a strong arm who throws it to the other team all the time. Schaub's size and accuracy alone make him more attractive than Griese and Volek(although I see Volek as a future pro bowler). Being 6'5 240 and having nice touch and accuracy will go a long way for any guy looking for a job quarterbacking in the NFL.

    Re: NFL News

I think Schaub or however it is spelled will continue to develop. He has good enough mental ability to make up for a bit less raw physical ability. Being able to throw the ball through a wall is a nice attribute but as some of the names mentioned, many of those had no touch and had as many picks on over-throws or tips due to not throwing catchable balls.

Sorry guys I just dont see it. At the same time though, I like Leinert's accuracy as opposed to Cutler's arm strength. Im not dumb, I know what you guys are saying about Schaub's strengths, my point is I dont think his strengths are all that special.

    Re: NFL News

I'm just going by what he's shown and done. I thought he was pretty good at UVA with not the most talent in the world around him and the Falcons have actually looked as good or better offensively when he's in there as opposed to Vick. As much as Vick can make plays happen himself, somehow Schaub made those not so good receivers look decent at least.

He may be worthless but I'd actually take a shot on him over lots of others of the 'options'.

If Shaub leaves the Falcons, that'll leave them with no qb though.

That's mainly because he slows things up. MV1 is speed speed speed all the time. Nothing else...no finesse. Schaub knows that he may not be able to throw the ball and thread the needle with his arm strength, but he knows a simple step or two to avoid the rush and to allow his receivers time to work the route...PLUS more touch & accuracy on the ball to allow his receivers to make a play on it is just as effective.

Sure, Schaub couldn't have made that scramble that MV1 did against Minnesota season-before-last, but maybe he wouldn't have had to do that...maybe he would have engineered more efficient drives and let them win by a couple of TD's instead of having to get MV1 to scramble 40-some yards for a GW TD in OT.

    Re: NFL News

I wonder if Vick will ever Steve Young himself....Young was considered a huge scrambling quarterback with a good arm who found touch. If Vick ever finds the middle ground, watch out.
